Interviewer: Could you introduce yourself first?
Lazar Stakic: Hello! My name is Lazar Stakić, I am from Štimlje. I currently live in Novi Badovac.
Interviewer: How do you remember the period before the war?
Lazar Stakic: I remember the period before the war as a happy and joyful childhood where I spent my time with my brothers and friends in various games.
Interviewer: What do you remember from the war period and how did you leave your home?
Lazar Stakic: From the period of the war, I remember the sound of airplanes, the flash and detonation of bombs, the Serbian army, tanks, cannons. I left home on June 12, 1999, early in the morning. The parents packed one travel bag. My aunt came with us with her daughter and son, we got into the car and came to Sušica.
Interviewer: Before the war, did you have good relations with your Albanian neighbors?
Lazar Stakic: Before the war, we had quite normal and good relations with our Albanian neighbors. Even more, I remember an Albanian old man who always, every time he would see us, would give us candies.
Interviewer: Do you think we can put the war behind us and build a better society in Kosovo together?
Lazar Stakic: Every war leaves scars that we must not forget, and we must move forward.
