[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Interviewer: What do you remember from the period before the war?
\nInterviewee: Well, I remember mostly everything. And childhood and elementary school and high school and all my friends and relatives who were all here. And going out and socializing and football training, and everything else that a certain… let’s say an average childhood brings.
\nInterviewer: So only good memories?
\nInterviewee: Well, it’s mostly like that. It’s mostly like that.
\nInterviewer: And what do you remember from the war period?
\nInterviewee: I also remember this war, quite well. Since I was already like, a teenager and I was 18-19 years old. And I remember those moments, those that lasted for 78 days of course, and everything that led to, to the war and everything that was the consequence after… Basically, I remember those moments and those terrible things and bombings and explosions and the chaos that reigned in those days definitely. Although, there were some interesting things during… I can say it simply, even in all that chaos and conflict, there was time to live a little.
\nInterviewer: And do you remember your relations with your Albanian neighbors?
\nInterviewee: I had a neighbor, he lived very close to me. We were in the same street. And we hung out. We had been friends for quite a long time, since we were little. We did various things together, mostly naughty, of course. He knew Serbian a little less well, I spoke some Albanian, but somehow, we understood each other and there was anything and everything. And um, unfortunately, there was a war and then those relations were disturbed, and then later I heard that he had a traffic accident and that he died in it. So, as far as that is concerned, there were… there were some nice moments, but there were also some provocations. Especially as the situation became more and more complicated before the start of the bombings. So, there were both things.
\nInterviewer: And do you remember the moment you had to leave your home?
\nInterviewee: Well, I remember that too. Well, I somehow thought, since everything changed and all the people, that is, most of the people I knew, and friends and neighbors and relatives left, and then we were literally left alone, in the windbreak. And there were provocations, there were also some petty attacks and various miracles. And somehow I thought that um, if I left , it would be much better. After all, it was a better situation. However, it remains regrettable. The rest is definitely in the heart and in the head. Simply, when you leave the place where you were born and where you grew up and where you lived for so many years, and in that way, not willingly but because you have to, it leaves consequences for later.
\nInterviewer: And how do you see yourself today? Is it possible for us as a society to overcome the consequences of war and build a better society?
\nInterviewee: Well, I do not know. All of us who have experienced it in some way, um, well… we have, we have trouble coming to terms with some things. We also have opportunities to try to come to terms with it. Working in such an environment can be challenging in some situations. At the end of the day, when the nationality is removed from the picture, you realize that we are all humans… but again, I think it will take many years for my generation and the generation before me and those that came immediately after to forget this. Some things. On the other hand, maybe these young people who didn’t have and who weren’t part of the conflict, will probably be able to get out of that story much more easily.
\nInterviewer: Thank you.
\nInterviewee: You are welcome.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
