Interviewer: I would ask you to introduce yourself, if you don’t mind, or do you want the interview to be anonymous?

Interviewee: I am Dragan Maksimović from Šilovo.

Interviewer: Great. What do you remember in the period before the war in Kosovo? Describe that period to me. How did people live then?

Interviewee: Well, what can I tell you, it was very scary. People were excited; they were forced to leave their homes because it was very difficult to live in that period.

Interviewer: Were there any tensions or pressures felt even then?

Interviewee: Well, yes they were, we were heavily attacked by Albanians. There were strong tensions; there was everything going on, so we had to leave our homes. It was terrible.

Interviewer: Can you describe the situation in the period from 1998 to 1999, that is, the situation during the war?

Interviewee: Well, I will tell you in brief, that at that time it was very rigorous and, let me say, rough to live in that period in Kosovo and Metohija. So, we were forced to leave our homes by the Albanians because they were very rude to us at that time.

Interviewer: Yeah. Did you, and if so, how much pressure did you feel during that period?

Interviewee: Well, the pressure was non-stop.

Interviewer: Have you ever felt the pressure to leave your home, to leave Kosovo?

Interviewee: Well, how could we not. We felt very strong pressure, and why, because they were on daily basis attacking us, some individuals who were here in those times. So we were forced to leave.

Interviewer: Now that the war is a little further behind us and we have continued to live, in this kind of situation, how do you live now? Are you afraid of some new situations?

Interviewee: So what can I tell you? Time as such has passed, but we can never forget those times, and in today’s time we live like this, because we have to live, but there is still some fear.

Interviewer: Can the war be overcome and left in the past, and normal life in Kosovo be continued?

Interviewee: Well, in my estimation, we should forget about the past and live in the future.

Interviewer: If you want to add something else, just go ahead.

Interviewee: Well, I wouldn’t. I’m glad.
